Planning Approved for British Land’s New Science and Technology Hub at 195 Botley Road
In May 2025, British Land received planning approval subject to S106 for its first laboratory development in Oxford, located at 195 Botley Road—formerly home to Currys and Tapi Carpets and Floors. The project will deliver over 300,000 sq ft of cutting-edge space designed to support science and technology businesses, alongside a new café and community events venue operated by a social enterprise.
This initiative is part of British Land’s broader strategy to revitalise employment sites, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and social impact. The development will be predominantly car-free, targeting BREEAM Outstanding certification, and will incorporate green landscaping to enhance accessibility, biodiversity, and overall site amenity.
In line with its commitment to fair employment, British Land also aims to promote the Oxford Living Wage across the site.
