£10m – delivery in 2025
The project
This new bridge is proposed between Oxpens and Grandpont Nature Park. It is designed as a shared space for both pedestrian and cyclists. The design has been selected to balance the most direct available route, minimise the impact across the meadows and to limit tree loss. The bridge will become an important placemaking feature and has been designed to create a positive experience as users pass amongst the trees and cross the river.
The opportunity
It will connect Osney Mead with Oxpens, the city centre and the train station. This will strengthen the innovation cluster and give better access to enjoy the Grandpont Nature Park and Thames, with quicker and improved cycle routes.
Progress
Planning permission was issued on 8 July 2024 (Ref. No: 23/02506/CT3).
