
Camera enforced points on identified roads that will require private vehicles passing through to have a permit.
The scheme aims to reduce traffic in order to make bus journeys faster and make walking and cycling safer. The scheme is to be initially implemented as an experimental trial for up to 18 months following which a decision will be made on whether to make the traffic filters permanent. Two of the filters are within Oxford West End however there are six in total which are all required to work together as a strategic cross-city measure.

Implementation of the traffic filters trial has been delayed due to the extended closure of Botley Road. Oxfordshire County Council is proposing a temporary congestion charge for cars as an intermediate measure to alleviate congestion in the city.
